EASTERN PYRENEES, BETWEEN SEA AND MOUNTAINS
In summer
Discover the mountains in summer in the Eastern Pyrenees.
Getting to know this eastern part of the French Pyrenees is a discovery. An area full of possibilities: mountains, lakes, thermal waters, medieval villages, vineyards and, of course, its Mediterranean coast.
When you visit the summit of Canigó (the sacred mountain of the Catalans), the fortifications of Vauban, the lake of the Bouilloses and the summit of Carlit or the sulphurous water baths you will understand better why this area is known as the first French Regional Natural Park of the Pyrenees.
Its nature will not leave you indifferent, you will love being in the heart of this incredible natural reserve.
Some of the visits we recommend are
Going up to the Canigó
Walk through the valley on the Yellow Train
Discover the medieval villages of Mont Louis or Villefranche-de-Conflent.
Enjoy the natural setting of the Bouillouses lakes
Carrying out activities at Lake Matemale
Go into history and visit the Tautavel Museum
Visit the Agly Valley wine region
Reaching the Mediterranean to get to know Coilloure and its coves.
In winter
In the Eastern Pyrenees you will find some of the most beautiful villages in France.
These villages are real treasures lost in the mountains, far from the crowds.
You will be able to taste local specialities in their typical shops or farms, such as Pyrenean sausages, goat’s cheese or even doughnuts, a slightly aniseed-flavoured sweet covered with white icing is a real delight.
